It is unbelievably cold here – very heavy frost but no snow to speak of. I have a feeling that this may change over the next week though, and we are in danger of being snowed in as we were last January. The most important thing is to make sure we have good supplies of bird food though as they are ravenous! It’s good to see so many tits, blackbirds and nuthatches around plus the redwings and fieldfares but not a single greenfinch which is worrying, but I could do without the pheasants that invade the garden every morning. I’m trying hard to make sure there is plenty of water for the birds too, but it freezes within minutes of going out. A week to get through I suspect and watch wildlife from indoors!
